4 Day Weekend Ahead of Us!

Dear 3rd Grade Families,

Who is ready for a 4-day weekend? We all are! These next two weeks are 4-day school weeks for us at SFX. We hope you all will enjoy your upcoming extended weekend!

Housekeeping Items:

• Sacrament paperwork is to be returned to your child's homeroom teacher no later than Thursday, October 9th 
• No School on Friday, October 10th and Monday, October 13th
• Third Grade is leading Mass at Brophy Chapel on Wednesday, October 15th.  The children that will be reading were sent home with their Mass readings last week.
• Parent/Teacher Conferences are just around the corner ~ Half Days will be Wednesday, October 29th, Thursday, October 30th and Friday, October 31st. Third Grade does Student-Led Conferences, which will take place that week; more information to follow.  Please be prepared to attend a Student-Led Conference during this specific week for about 35 minutes. Teachers will contact you if a separate conference is needed in addition to the Student-Led Conferences.

English Language Arts  Focus wall 

Spelling skill for the week is long i.

Grammar skill for the week is plural nouns -s and -es. 

Reading skill for the week is cause and effect. 

There will be a spelling test on Thursday, October 9th 

Students will work on a variety of activities throughout the week to practice and apply their grammar and reading skills. 

Social Studies

Students will finish up their lessons on map skills. 

Religion 

Students will be learning about the Rosary. we will discuss the different mysteries as well as how to properly pray the Rosary. We will pray the Rosary as a school on Wednesday, October 8th.

Math 
The students will complete their lessons on rounding to the tens, hundreds, and thousands.  The students will then be working on adding and subtracting utilizing the Singapore methodology.

Homework 

• Nightly read and log two complete sentences ~ will be turned in on Thursday; only 3 nights of reading log to be completed this week

• Continue working on October's Monthly Book Report which is due on October 30th
