Autumn is here!

Hello Third Grade Families,

We hope you had a wonderful weekend and a great time at the school auction! We are back to our regular 5 day school week this week, but don't fear, next week's school schedule holds 3 half days! Just a reminder that next Wednesday (10/29), Thursday (10/30), and Friday (10/31) are all half days for conferences. Third Grade Student Led Conferences will begin next Monday, October 27th and run through Thursday, October 30th. You and your child are to come together, as your child will be leading you through the conference.





ELA Focus Wall



Spelling skill for the week focuses on three letter clusters (str, spr, and thr).
Grammar skill for the week focuses on verb tenses (past, present, and future).
Reading skill for the week focuses on text and graphic features.

There will be a spelling, grammar, and reading comprehension assessment on Friday, October 24th. 

Science
Continuation of last week...
We are now ready to begin our first unit in Science titled, Animal Adaptations. Students will begin their lessons on animal adaptations through the use of Brain Pop Jr. videos, science textbook chapters, and hands-on activities.

Religion
Continuation of last week...
Students will be reviewing character traits and God's Creation.

Math
The students will begin their lessons on subtraction using the Singapore methodology.

Homework

• Nightly read and log 3 complete sentences
• Math skill sheet
• Dreambox practice 3x a week for at least 15 minutes
• Continue working on monthly book report - due next Friday, October 31st
• There is no Zanerbloser.com unit to practice for this week. Please have your child review his/her spelling flash cards that are created in class on Tuesdays.
