The Saints Are Marching In!

Hello Families of Third Graders,
We hope that your families enjoyed a wonderful 3 day weekend and are now ready for the week that lies ahead.   It is hard to believe that November has arrived and that the wonderful holiday season is right around the corner.  However, that means that there is a wealth of academic content to be gained before Thanksgiving and Christmas.  Let's savor the gift of the present and enjoy the month where we embrace the ideal of giving thanks

May I begin by saying, "thank you" for making my birthday so very special last week.  I am very grateful for the generosity and kindness that was shown on my birthday.  Thank you for making turning one year older so very special.  The cards, flowers, treats, and gifts truly touched my heart.

Religion
The students will continue to hear and learn stories about the saints.  Our essential question for the students when learning about the saints is, "What does it mean to be saintly?"  Please ask your child about this question and what they are discovering about the lives of the saints.  After we complete our lessons on the saints, we will move into learning about the liturgical calendar in the Catholic church.

Math
The students have spent a week learning how to create bar models.  This is a required Singapore Math strategy for all of the third graders.  The third graders will now move into solving word problems utilizing this new bar model strategy.
